In preparation for the new season a stock taking is being
made of all club gear etc. Any player or member who has pavilion keys, jersies

club officer ASAP.
The February club meeting will be held on Wednesday 15th.
Club membership collection will be getting underway shortly and members are
reminded that the fee is £20. This year due to insurance reasons it has been
decided to introduce a £5 membership fee for underage players from under 12 to
minor grade with a cap of £10 per family.
The Lotto team for Saturdays January 21 and 28 is Gerard Cassidy, Adrian
Bogue, Stephen Co x and Ciaran Campbell. The jackpot for the weekend of

The Adjourned AGM was held in the club pavilion on Friday
January 6th and a lot of essential business in preparation for
season 2012 was completed. Good news to report is that outgoing secretary
Joanne Monaghan has agreed to remain in post for another year. Also on the clár
was the appointment of a number of managerial positions for the various
underage teams and the details here are;
Minor;Seamus Breen; Under 16; Conor Foy, Daryl and Ryan
Keenan ; Under 14; Declan McStravick and Cooney Campbell. There is no appointment as yet for the ladies
senior team but discussions are ongoing and it is hoped that this will be
resolved shortly.
On the financial front it is abundantly evident that the
well being of the club is critically dependent on the income from the Lotto and
Games session. It is imperative that members contribute as fully as they can to
both these fundraisers.
A decision on whether or not to field an Erne Cup B team was
left on the backburner until further information could be gathered as to the
viability of fielding a third adult team on a consistent basis. Those players
who would be interested in playing at this level of football in 2012 should
make their intentions known to club officials and a firm decision on the issue
will be taken at the next club meeting in the light of the response received
over the coming weeks.
Concern was again expressed at the cavalier approach being
taken by some players in regard to medical treatment and it has been agreed
that a more formal guideline on club policy in this matter will be introduced
this season.
Club membership will be again priced at £20 per adult but
because of insurance factors there will have to be a £5 membership introduced
for players from under 12 to under 18 with a cap of £10 per family.
The Lotto jackpot for the weekend of Saturday December 31st
was not won the numbers drawn being 12 18 21 and 23. Winners of the two £25
prizes were Ignatius McCaffery and Agnes McCaffery. The jackpot for the weekend
of Saturday January 7th was also not won the numbers here being 3 5
10 and 17. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Bernard Owens and S Cassidy,
Maghera.
It is intended to reformat the Lotto in a few months time
with four numbers from 28 and Lotto patrons should take note of this advance
notice. The team on duty for Saturday’s January 21 and 28 is; Gerard Cassidy,
Adrian Bogue, Stephen Cox and Ciaran Campbell. |

The adjourned club AGM will be held this Friday evening
January 6th in the pavilion with a
starting time of 8-00 pm and it is an important meeting which has a lot
of business to deal with. The club’s financial position will be presented for
discussion and an improvement in the Lotto return will be one particular item
on the agenda along with the current operation of the weekly games session in
the Community Centre. The key post of club secretary has also to be filled.
There is also the management of all the underage teams to be
dealt with as the club heads into another new season and a decision on the
viability of fielding a third adult team in competition will also be considered
With the January meeting of the Co Board early next week
dealing with some radical proposals from other clubs it important that club
members put their views forward so that delegates to that county meeting can be
mandated to vote accordingly.
A total of approximately £1 600 was tallied in the annual
Christmas Eve ‘Concern’ collection and
appreciation is extended to the general public for their generosity and
appreciation too to the young club members who volunteered to hold the
collection which has now become a traditional feature of a Tempo Christmas.
The Lotto team for the weekends of January 7 and 14 is Barry
Breen, Aiden Breen, Hugh Breen and Declan Owens. |

A new rota for the organisation of the weekly Lotto has been
agreed and it will come into operation at the beginning of January. Instead of
members being on duty for a month,it will now be a fortnight period with a
smaller number of people concerned. It is expected that no member would be so
busy as to not be able to devote a few hours on two evenings in the year to run
this essential fund raising exercise.
The January rota is ; January 7 and 14; Barry Breen, Hugh
Breen, Aidan Breen and Declan Owens.
January 21 and 21; Gerard Cassidy, Adrian Bogue, Stephen Cox
and Ciaran Campbell.
Ladies club members will again be organising a street
collection for Trocaire on Christmas Eve, the collection running for some six
to seven hours from 9-00 am to 3/4- 00 pm. Volunteers are required and anyone
interested in assisting is very welcome to simply turn up on Saturday morning.
The collection has become a traditional feature of the Tempo Christmas and has
seen a very generous reponse not just from local people but also from passing
traffic.
The club games session will be running this Thursday evening
in the Community Centre with a 9-00 pm start and again there will be
distribution of seasonal gifts. A reminder that the top prize is £1 000 and
with over £2 000 in prize money on the night this is excellent value for the
£10 admission. Club members in particular are encouraged to come and support
this hugely important fund raiser for the Maguires.
Club merchandise is available for sale, there was a Saturday
shop last weekend in the pavilion with a number of customers present. Anyone
wishing to purchase for Christmas should contact a club officer.
The Lotto jackpot was not won at the weekend the numbers
drawn being 5 6 19 and 20. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Diane Campbell
and Damian McCaffery. |

The club AGM
was held last Friday evening in the pavilion with outgoing chairman Seamus
Breen presiding. During the course of the meeting reports were delivered
covering most aspects of club activity throughout the year. In regard to the
performances of the flagship side, the senior team, there was disappointment
expressed about the two semi final defeats suffered in the championship and the
league with the former being an especially agonising failure. It was stressed though by team management that
the effort and commitment put in by the senior panel had been excellent all
through a season which had opened with a highly promising run in the pre season
Ulster league, losing out here on a quarter final place on scoring difference. At
underage level there had been promise shown by a number of age groups most
notably at under 14 and under 16 level and in the Tempo Og programme there were
terrific numbers of youngsters in attendance which boded well for the future.
In ladies
football however it is not quite so healthy with a major concern being the
relatively small pool of players available especially at senior level and
making this situation more difficult was the dearth of personnel to provide an effective overall
managerial structure to deal with basic organisation of team affairs. There
were calls for more club members to be more actively involved with this area of
ladies club activity otherwise there was a real danger that ladies football
would be unable to continue. On the financial front, the two main sources of
revenue are the Bingo and Lotto and while these do generate reasonable return
it was stated that in reality a much greater income could be generated and
failure to do so was disheartening, especially in light of the fact that there
were plans to embark on further club development. Thanks were expressed in all
reports to all who had contributed in any way to the life of the Maguires
during the year, with pavilion caretaker Tony Brennan in particular, being
praised for his outstanding maintenance work which keeps the pavilion in superb
condition.
Among the club officers for 2012 are;
Chairman ;
Brendan Fee; Vice chairman; Gerard Cassidy; Assistant Secretary; Síle Breen;
Treasurer; Barry Fee; Assistant Treasurer; Eimear Campbell; PRO; Damian
Campbell; Youth Officer;Anthony McCaffery;
Child Protection Officer; Edel Campbell;
Development Officer; Shane Breen; Co Board delegates; Damian Campbell
and John McElroy; Coaching Officer; Teresa McNabb; Senior team and Erne Cup one
manager; John McElroy.
The Adjourned
Meeting which will deal with the financial report and will be held on Friday January
6th with an 8-00 pm start. Underage management and the position of club secretary are
positions to be decided on. There will be a sale of club merchandise, jersies,
socks, kitbags, anoraks etc in the club pavilion this Saturday December 17th
from 10-00 to 12-00. Volunteers are required to assist in the running of a pre
school disco in the Community Centre on Saturday December 17th from
7-00 to 9-00 pm. This is being organised by Fermanagh Ladies Co Board and
contact should be made with Gerard Cassidy.

A successful
youth presentation night was held in the Community Centre last Saturday, with
special guest for the occasion being Tyrone star Stephen O’Neill. There was a large attendance present and the
evening was much enjoyed by all. A
packed programme was opened with Christmas music from St Mary’s Silver Band and
there was also a selection of traditional music from the local traditional
group and the club wishes to thank both for their contribution to the
evening. Stephen O’Neill gave an
inspiring address to members of the older age groups in relation to giving
commitment to the sport and afterwards he presented certificates to all the
underage players. The guest also
congratulated the parents for the commitment that they were giving to the
association and there was the appropriate response from both the club chairman
and youth officer. A special competition
had been organised by both parish schools, Mullnaskea and Tempo, the topic
being ‘Tempo Maguires’ and this produced a high standard of contribution. The club also wishes to thank Billy Donohue
for providing his hugely admired catering for the occasion.
The cub AGM
will be held this Friday evening in the pavilion with a starting time of 8pm
and all members are encouraged to attend.
It has been a season which in the end didn’t quite live up to
expectation on the senior front, on the other hand definite progress has been
made not just at senior level but in other club activities also. Anyone with an interest in the welfare of
the Maguires will be welcome to be present as the pieces are set in place for
what will hopefully be a successful 2012.
The weekly
bingo continues on Thursday evening in the Community Centre. Over the next three sessions leading up to
Christmas there will be a traditional festive fare distributed, a large number
of gifts per night. Top prize is the
£1,000 house and with all other houses and lines being substantial a visit to
the games session is great value for the £10 admission.
